We welcomed Jim Le Feuvre from Yeovil Camera Club as our judge for the first DPI competition of our new season. He was very complimentary about the quality of the images submitted, and his gentle commentary clearly indicated our strengths and weaknesses as well as his own personal preferences without compromising his empathy and support for our efforts. This was much appreciated.
The strongly contested Colour section yielded no fewer than six that were Commended; namely Bill Collett, Graham Nicholls, Jill Toman, Lou Bailey and both David Bathard’s. John Scaife was HC for his well-executed “Crowe Point Beach”, as was Tony Nineham for one of his two successful dragonfly images “The Moon and Dragonflies”. 3rd place went to Diana Walker with “Puffin”, and Tony Nineham’s “Dragonfly at Dawn” was second to the eventual winner, Dan Clarke, with his unusual viewpoint at “White Rocks Cave”.
Fewer photos were held back in the Mono section with Pamela Bruce-Lockhart, Bill Collett and Tony Nineham all Commended for their entries.
Diana Walker was HC for “Watch that Beak” as were Jenny Short for “Last Ditch Challenge” and Tony again for “Heron with Baby Turtle”. Jill Toman took 3rd with “The Streets Unseen” and Diana Walker was 2nd with another Puffin image. The Mono winner was David Bathard with “Wholesale Fish”
All those receiving awards are featured in the gallery section of our website: www.nrps.org.uk.
Next week we look forward to Ian Hargreaves’ presentation “Brutalist Architecture” and will be handing in our entries for the Open Print Competition that Peter Weaver will judge on 23rd.
