Baboons, bears, badgers and baby rhinos- captured in camera.

When Diana Walker packs her tent and camera for a holiday trip, you can guarantee she is off in search of wildlife! On her trip north last year she headed for Scotland, where she captured some stunning images that she put together in a presentation for members this week.
We were taken on an energetic holiday that explored zoos and wildlife parks on the way to Kirkcudbrightshire, Gallaway and Threave before a second half AV presentation that reminded us that the summer of 2024 featured many downpours!
On a fascinating photography experience with “Nature’s Images”, Diana was privileged to enjoy the reflection pools and well-designed hides that are their trademark, and that attract otters, mink, badgers and squirrels in abundance. It is true to say that Diana was in her element! Her photographs, always of a consistently high standard, featured all of these, as well as birdlife in the form of owls, sparrowhawks and jays. Red kites soared over the often damp landscape as, in search of animals in the wild, Diana also explored the landscapes through which the River Dee meanders and cascades, as well as the reservoirs, bridges and viaducts that abound there.
Heading south for home, she stopped off at both the Yorkshire and the Cotswold Wildlife and Parks in search of bears and baboons not native to this isle, delighting us with images of rhinos with their babies and Polar Bears romping with a ball in the river. It was a very entertaining evening that, with our season drawing to a close next week, left us eager to get out there with the cameras in the sunshine, and make the most of the trips we are planning in June and July.
Next week we conclude our successful season with accomplished photographer Claire Carter, now based in Scotland, as our guest speaker on Zoom asking us if the camera can lie!
